The 2010 Olympic Torch

This morning Samantha and I braved the cold and got up early to leave and see the 2010 Olympic Torch pass through our area, just 10 minutes down the road. I was amazed at how few people were out waiting for the torch to pass. We got there around 8:00am, just in time to see the Olympic bus go by.

Soon after, it was like a parade coming, music was playing!

Even Coca-Cola was there handing out Coke bottles.

Aren't these cute?

Coke went all out and had these really cool vehicles.

About 5 minutes later the runner, she was walking by this time, came around the corner. I have been telling Samantha how heavy the torch must be, and the girl who came around the corner was holding it with two hands and not high, she had been caring it for a while already. To our surprise they did a pass of the flame right by us, didn't know this was going to happen but very cool to watch.

Here the girl is walking with the torch, two handed.

Passing of the flame.

High Five

Look how high the new girl is holding it, her arms aren't tired yet!

Off she goes

One handed jogging down in front of us

Off to the Olympics that flame must go!

Afterwards we were driving through our town and saw this flame, not sure if the Olympic flame started it or not though. Now we are looking forward to the opening ceremonies of the Olympics to see the big flame get lit. I am so happy that Samantha got up with me to see this since I am pretty sure I will never be this close to another Olympic torch for the rest of my life!

How fun!! We went to the torch parade in Utah in 2002. My step dad's bro-in-law was a torch carrier and so the kids got to hold the torch and stuff. It was a FUN parade!! I'm glad you guys got to go see it!
