Wednesday Dinner

Samantha has been going to a local church for the last three weeks after school to make dinner. I drop her off and leave and then come back at 5:15 to eat a fabulous dinner. Well, most of the time but then salt and pepper helps, you have to remember that these are girls age 6 to 12. While she is there they have a snack, cut up veggies, mix things, bake things, set the table and anything else that needs to be done. Yesterday, when I arrived Samantha was still working on the cookies for dessert. The lady who runs the program said that most of the kids stay in the kitchen just long enough to make one thing and then they go downstairs to play. She said Samantha would rather stay in the kitchen and help in other areas. This week 4 girls were still upstairs working but last week when I got there Samantha was the only one left in the kitchen. After everything is ready and they do announcements and prayer, the kids get behind the serving table and serve the food to the parents. I LOVE THIS!!! All these girls do such a good job and are having such a good time, I love seeing team work! Below are some pics from last night.

She was giving direction her which made me chuckle

I love this picture showing them all working

Sam with her plate, after everyone is served they can get their food and sit with their parents

They made pizza bread, sausage, noodles with alfredo and broccoli and shortbread cookies.

At the end Samantha loves to help pack up the leftovers, you can take them home. There are always LOTS of leftovers. They have their last class next week and I am not looking forward to this since that means I will have to make dinner on Wednesdays again!!

What a GREAT program. Wonder how I can start one here in Fort?
