Chicago Field Museum

Samantha by a Mummy. She loved reading about how a person was mummified. I thought it was gross but her and Jim were like wow, cool!

Artifacts

Jim looking into the face of an Egyptian lady, he is suppose to see what he would like back then.

Going to the dessert.

Samantha playing with the old time scales, she got to see how they weighed things.

Samantha with many artifacts.

More Egyptian Artifacts.

Samantha and Jim playing with the instruments in the children's area.

More music playing.

Samantha got to watch her dinosaur being made, she really enjoyed this part.

SUE and Samantha, SUE was found in August of 1990 in South Dakota. She is the largest, most complete, and best preserved T. Rex fossil yet discovered and the skeleton on display is the real thing. Samantha was amazed at how small she was, she thought they were much bigger. I wouldn't have wanted to meet her though!

Her is SUE's head, it weighs too much to be placed on the actual skeleton. You can see how big it is by looking in her mouth, my baby girl is in there.

Here are some more skeleton bones, Samantha loved this section.

This is an Apatosaurus that Samantha and Jim enjoyed reading about. Jim even said he learned something new, the Brontosaurus no longer exists and is called the Apatosaurus now. How many people knew that?

Samantha was so interested in the dinosaurs that she sat on the floor and watched a video, about 15 minutes long.
We had such a good time at the museum and it was great seeing Samantha so interested in history. I have to admit that when I was her age I really had no interest in this type of stuff. She just loves to soak up any new info that she can.
