Two Posts

Yesterday was the BIG Science Fair here in Peterborough and Samantha woke up saying she didn't feel good and thought she had a fever. Nope, no fever. I talked to her and she brought up the Science Fair and a bell went off, she was nervous. Jim and I talked to her about how proud we were of her and all the hard work she put into her science project and she should want to go and show others her great project. She had been working on her experiment/project for over a month. She finally started feeling better and got ready for the Fair.
Here she is striking a pose in front of all her hard work.

Out of all the kids her age, there were only a handful of boards that didn't have a lot of parent help. As I said before, I already went to school and I am not doing homework again. I will guide Samantha but I am not picking up the markers, crayons or pencils. One parent didn't like what her daughter did and redid the whole thing to make it look better, my eyes I know must have been popping out of my head when she said that to me.
Right before the first judge came, she was a little nervous but she did great!
(Look at her foot)

Here she is with the first judge. After she left, Samantha was so excited because it wasn't that hard to talk to them and answer their questions.

The second judge went off great.

A college kid even stopped by to talk to her about her project.

Last judge and she did wonderful!

After all the judging was done she started passing notes to some friends. I think all the kids in her class were relieved to see all the judges go.

And yes, we had some BIG sundaes when we got home with all the sprinkles and cherries.
I am so proud of her!

Today was my Birthday, I wasn't going to post about it BUT then something happened.
Yes, I got older ~ my day started off great and then ended great but there was a bump,
I hate those.
1. I volunteered all day in Samantha's school's library.
I love libraries and really enjoyed doing this.
2. I took Samantha out to lunch and took her to a store and
bought her something. Does this sound backwards
since it was my Birthday? She is just too cute to say no to.
3. My Birthday Dinner ~ RUINED! We went to Red Lobster
since I LOVE the Cajun Chicken Linguine Alfredo.
I don't like my alfredo on the pasta since it is always too much.
So, I ask for it on the side and it came out wrong.
I hate to complain but I didn't want my chicken floating in the
alfredo either. The waitress said it was the way it
came...NO, I have ordered the correct way, or at least
what I think is the correct way, many times. They took it back
while my family finished their dinner and
waited with me for mine.
They NUKED my chicken, you know it is when it is
rubbery and mushy. Couldn't complain because the manager
already came over and gave me the meal for free.
What do you do in that case?
Me, I sucked it up, pushed the chicken to the side
and ate the pasta with my alfredo sauce.
It will be a while before I want to go there again.
4. Ended the day with the best thing...presents...LOVE THOSE!
Hope everyone had a spectacular day!!

Happy Birthday to You!!! So sorry to hear about your meal. That is a bummer.

I loved seeing the Science Fair, it brought back such memories. I loved doing them and making those boards. Science Fair's are such an awesome learning opportunity.

Well Happy Birthday to You!! I'm glad for the most part it was a good day but I totally get how something like that can really put a damper on :-(

Even though I don't have kids, I agree with you on the whole parents doing the project thing. My sister-in-law used to do that for her kids and now that they're in their late teens/20's they really don't have a good work ethic. It's quite sad actually. I think you can want your child to do well and put their best effort in, but for some parents they really need to put a kibosh on their Type A perfectionisms. (Is that even a word?) They are kids after all!! Okay... the barren woman will shut up now about parenting ;-)

Anyhoo... I'm glad Samantha pushed through the fear and did fabulously at the SF. I'm sure she felt a huge sense of accomplishment having done it all herself and in getting some good feedback from the judges! YAY for her!! :-D

Have a great day! Hugs

Sue, No wonder you were not at home when I tried to call you all day long. Love Grandma/Mom

Well, Happy Birthdays are in order. I say flaunt a birthday :)

Those pictures are fabulous, you did such a good job telling the story with those. That is true talent that I wish I had.

happy (belated) birthday!

that pasta is my favorite dish at red lobster, too. it's already like we're old friends. ;)

fry sauce is basically a blend of ketchup and mayonaise. it's available everywhere it utah. but, fries with cheese curds sounds like an excellent idea too!
